AURA
drink cabinet / 2025
Aura drink cabinet embodies the metaphor of energy. I began the design proccess with the idea of a common point where flows that can and cannot be perceived by the senses converge. As a result of this entire search for abstraction and texture, I created a modern-industrial sculptural object for the space.
In terms of material choices,
the tempered glass wit a special color I used in designing the cabinet doors of the Aura drink cabinet is a direct inspiratio from the name Aura. I combined the Latin meaning of the word, "breeze, light wind" with water effect glass in the material. Among the glass colors, I supported a strong stance with burgundy on the legs. For the construction of the cabinet and the supportive sheet system in the leg structure, I preffered black brushed metal, highlighting the main focal point in the design. For the cabinet's internal organization, I aimed to provide the user with the most functional use by intergrating leather drawers.
In terms of form,
I planned the main mass as a brutal volume. The choice allowed me to establish a stronger foundation in the transitions of color and texture. However, another strong aspect of my design was the composition I created in the leg form. The two cubic legs that carry the mass represent senses and perception. While sense is something that can be felt, perception is the interpretation of feelings in the mind. Therefore, one cannot exist without the other. The sheet metal acting as a bridge between them was thus formalized in this way. The rectangular sheet on the outer frame represents the external world formed by perceived objects.
